A few years ago I wrote an article titled "Where Did They Use That Image?" where I did some searching for licenses of my images sold through Getty Images to see if I could figure out where they ended up. Today I noticed that Forbes had licensed one of my images, so I decided to see if I could find it.

The first part of my trip over, it was time to report for volunteer trail maintenance duty at Iceland's Thórsmörk National Park. What would it be like to live in a tent for two weeks while repairing sections of Iceland's most famous hiking trail, the Laugavegur? I was about to find out!

In my last article I described my trip to Anza-Borrego Desert State Park to see the wildflowers everyone was talking about. Now it was time to head back home, but not before a quick visit to Death Valley National Park to see if any wildflower activity was going on there.

I wasn't planning to go that far south. Really, I was going to turn around after Valley of Fire in Nevada and start heading back home. But the online wildflower reports and photos posted by my Facebook friends were too much to resist. I simply had to visit Anza-Borrego Desert State Park in California.

Last week we began exploring the Valley of Fire State Park in southern Nevada. Today we'll hike just a little deeper into the park and visit a few more sandstone formations, and one that may remind you of a more iconic desert Southwest location.

Last spring I decided to do a loop around Nevada in search of wildflowers and other interesting photographic subjects. After wrapping up my first major stop in Great Basin National Park, it was time to head south to the place that had inspired the trip in the first place - Valley of Fire State Park.

Spring is a great time to go places that no sane person would get near in the summer. Death Valley comes to mind. So last spring I packed the car and headed to southern Nevada in search of wildflowers. First stop, however, was a much cooler place.

Every year for as long as I can remember, my friend and fellow Seattle Mountaineer, Scott, has been leading a winter snowshoe photography trip to an area within Mount Rainier National Park called Paradise. Last year was no exception.

Yep, that's right! I'm moving to a new location and all of my inventory and print-making equipment will be in storage for a while, so the store has to close.

We probably all have a pretty good idea of what a wilderness is - it's the exact opposite of the urban sprawl and nonsense most of us endure on a daily basis. But what is it really?

Recently one of my customers asked me if I had more slot canyon images than were showing on my website. It seems he wanted to buy one as a birthday gift. This is exactly the kind of motivation I needed to go back and look through the archives, and as usual, what I found surprised me!

The new year is finally here, and I've heard a heck of a lot of complaining recently about how mean 2016 was to us. This, of course, is nothing new - I hear it every year.
