Occasionally I will enter a photo contest if the rules, entry fees, and prizes are reasonable, and so today I received an email from the International Mountain Summit team informing me that one of my images had been selected as one of the best 100 photos of the IMS Photo Contest 2013 with the theme “Mountain Lights and Shadows”. Well, I suppose that’s not a bad way to start a Monday!
It seems I entered this contest back in June with 2390 other contestants. A rather formidable looking jury was to select the best 100 images and then voting would be opened to the public as well. And that’s where you come in!
From now until August 18, voting is open to the public. You can enter either my last name “Leckert” or the image ID 1220 to locate my image, and if you like it, well, feel free to vote for it! I’ll be forever grateful!
In any case, my image will be part of a digital photo exhibition at the International Mountain Summit in Alto Adige. Apparently, that’s in northern Italy. Also, the exhibition will be shown in some branches of the Raiffeisen bank in Italy, and also at the Globetrotter Shop in Munich. As best I can tell, this is the equivalent of the flagship REI store in Seattle, a mecca for outdoor enthusiasts.
And what is the International Mountain Summit all about? According to their website, IMS brings together mountain lovers from all over the world. Controversial topics regarding the world of mountains are discussed and analysed by internationally renowned personalities, top mountaineers, and decision makers in alpinism.
Well, while that sounds like a lot of fun and a great place to visit, I’m thinking I probably won’t make this event. But, it’s nice to know my image will!
Congratulations!
You’ve got my vote, Ed! Good luck. This is very exciting.
Ed, first of all congratulations on the honor of being selected. In reviewing the contest photos I felt like I was looking at fine art such as paintings by Albert Bierstadt or Frederic Church. You stand in great company. Good Luck my friend.
Thanks, Myra!
